Why I Empathize with Native New Yorkers

There are several discrepancies as to when a New York City transplant can officially be called "a New Yorker.” Some say you have to live in the city for a minimum of ten years; some say five years, and then others take a “how to tell if you’re a real New Yorker” test on BuzzFeed and proudly post their high-scoring results on social media.
